FRAMINGHAM – Marilyn (Minahan) Foley, 86, a longtime resident of Ashland died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, after a brief illness

. Born in Fitchburg, she was the daughter of the late John & Olive (St. Germain) Minahan, and the beloved wife of the late Richard K. Foley.

Marilyn began her education in Fitchburg, and moved to Framingham where she began and graduated from Framingham High School. S

he went on to what was then Framingham State Teachers College, and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Home Economics. Marilyn taught briefly in Littleton, before starting her family and settling in Ashland.

As the children got older, Marilyn went back to work, initially part time at Framingham State College Alumni Association, where she would ultimately become the Alumni Director. She loved her work, and often volunteered her children to help out with many functions.

Before she lost her husband in 1985, they loved to travel. The Home Economics degree shown bright. Marilyn could sew, and regularly made clothing for the kids as they were growing up. She was also an accomplished cook, known for her desserts. In her later years Marilyn loved to get together with the “Lunch Bunch”, play cards and make puzzles.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Jo of NYC, Kathie McKinstry of RI, Kevin of Ashland, and Patty & her husband Jesse Moore of WA, her grandchildren, Elsa Ferguson, Jessica Roberts, Kelsey DeFalco, and Richard Foley, her great granddaughter, Harper DeFalco, her siblings, Kathleen Menard, and Bernard Minahan, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her dear husband Richard, Marilyn was predeceased by her brother John Minahan.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marilyn’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday morning, July 29th from 9 -10:30 a.m.

Her Funeral Mass will follow in St. Stephen Church, 221 Concord St. Framingham at 11 o’clock.  

Interment in Edgell Grove Cemetery.
