FRAMINGHAM – The League of Women Voters of Framingham is hosting a candidates’ forum on Sunday, July 10 for the 6th Middlesex State Rep race in the library of Harmony Grove Elementary.

All of the candidates on the September ballot have been invited and have confirmed their attendance.

The candidates are Dhruba Sen, Priscila Sousa, and Margareth Shepard.

“This is not your typical candidate forum or meet & greet event! We are using the speed dating format so people and candidates can ask questions and have them answered right then and there. Here’s how it works: audience members will be seated at tables. The candidates will spend a set amount of time at each table and will answer any questions asked. A League volunteer will be at each table to facilitate conversation,” said the League of Women Voters.

This is not your typical candidate forum or meet & greet event! We are using the Speed Dating format so residents of the 6th Middlesex can ask questions and have the answered right then and there, directly by the candidates themselves.

Here’s how it works: Attendees will be seated at tables with a League member who is there to help facilitate conversation. The candidates will spend time at each table and will answer any questions asked. Should there be more attendees than available seats with a candidate, attendees will be seated at tables staffed by the LWV, where they can ask questions about our elected delegation, voting, upcoming elections, the League, and more, until they can be rotated in with a candidate.

Our aim is to offer an event that encourages both personal and in-depth discussion so that voters can make an informed vote in September.

We’ll kick things off at 6 p.m. and should be done by 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:40 p.m. so that attendees can find their tables and introduce themselves.

Based on the discussions and answers provided by the candidates, “candi-dating profiles” will be posted on our social media and shared with local media to give those at home a chance to learn more about their options.

The League of Women Voters of Framingham is a non-partisan, grassroots organization that supports and opposes issues, but not candidates or political parties. The organization strives to protect, educate, and engage voters. New members are welcome
