ASHLAND – Thira Suriyamongkol passed away June 9, 2022 while visiting Bangkok, Thailand.

Born December 26 1945, in Thailand, Thira is survived by his wife, Martha, and their children Terry, Cara and Paul.

Thira came to the United States in 1968 to attend Boston College, where he met Martha.

Thira held a variety of jobs over the years, including owning a Chinese restaurant and furniture business, working for a framing company, and most recently doing medical deliveries for a Dental Lab.

Thira loved to take care of orchids, listen to jazz music, play tennis and go for walks in parks all around the Metrowest area. He was always on the search for the perfect Peking duck, though none quite matched his expectations. Still, he was always excited to find a new restaurant or visit old favorites with his family. He also had a great ribs recipe himself. He was a big Celtics fan, standing up through the entire fourth quarter for countless close games.

He was always there for his family when they needed him in his patient, quiet way, and will be deeply missed.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday June 25th at noon in St. Cecilia Parish, 54 Esty Street in Ashland, with urn burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.

Arrangements by Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
