FRAMINGHAM – The 31st Annual New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture Tree Climbing Championship will be held at Farm Pond Park in Framingham this weekend.

Tree climbing competitions demonstrate the working conditions of arborists in the field. The competition helps provide the public with a better understanding of the skills it takes to properly climb and care for trees.

This unique and exciting event is open to the public.

Watch as the region’s most skilled climbers compete for the coveted title of New England Champion and a chance to compete in the grand finale, known as the International Tree Climbing Championship, to be held this summer in Copenhagen, Sweden! Climbing categories include: Aerial Rescue, Belayed Speed Climb, Work Climb, Ascent Event, Throwline, and Master’s Challenge.

There will be a kid’s climb, too, so bring the whole family!

The event is Saturday, June 18 from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Farm Pond in Framingham. The rain date is Sunday, June 19.

  • 6:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tree Climbing Championship preliminary event
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids Tree Climb ($10 per child)
  • 2 to 5 p.m. Master’s Challenge Event (the finals)
  • 5 to 6 p.m. Results & Awards.
