FOXBOROUGH – Sophomore Abby Desmarais won the 100-meter event at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association’s (MSTCA) Twilight Invitational Track Meet at Foxborough High School on Friday the 13th.

Desmarais time was 12.48 seconds. Teammate Maya Bishop, a junior, was 4th in the event at 13.05 seconds.

“Abby Desmarais has now won about as many state titles in a 1-year period as anyone; and would have won 2 more indoors at State freshman/sophomore meet if we had not been covid cancelled by the town,” said coach Chris Collins.

“Her first 100s of the year leads to State Coaches Champion,” said Coach Collins. “She is an absolute workhorse.”

The Flyers won the 4X100 relay on Friday night too. Sprinters were junior Joanna Ball, senior Priscilla Mota, Desmarais and Bishop. They crossed the finish line in 49.9 seconds.

Sophomore Ella Terranova finished third in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time was 1:08.81 minutes.

“Ella Terranova would be the highlight of almost any team in MA. She is a State Level force as only a sophomore and Abby’s training partner and fellow relay force,” said Coach Collins. ” She has yet to lose a league meet race this season in the best league in Massachusetts.”

Next for the Flyers is the Bay State Conference Championship meet, Wednesday, May 18 in Braintree.
