1 Today is tax day for Massachusetts residents to file both their state and federal income taxes, instead of the traditional April 15 deadline.

The IRS announced a due date of April 18 for filing federal income tax returns, the first business day following Emancipation Day, celebrated in Washington, D.C. on Friday, April 15, 2022.

Patriots’ Day is celebrated in Massachusetts on April 18, 2022, which moves the deadline for Massachusetts taxpayers to file 2021 income tax returns to the next business day of April 19, 2022.

Today is also the last day to file taxes for 2018, and still get a refund. After today, the money goes to the government.
