FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High boys lacrosse battled with Newton North High on the road Thursday but in the end the Tigers pulled out the 10-8 win.

Framingham is now 0-1 under head coach AJ Mulvey.

“It is extremely disappointing. We are a much better team, but we can’t win games from the penalty box. Our team has some soul searching to do, but I’m confident we will use this as an opportunity to learn what not to do. We are shifting our focus to Saint John’s,” said Mulvey.

Flyers head to Shrewsbury tomorrow, April 9 to play Saint John’s at 11 a.m.

Thursday, senior captain Kyle Patriarca had 15-plus saves.

“Kyle was incredible between the pipes with at least 15 saves, I’ll have to review the film to confirm.
Captains PJ Farese and Mason Moy were awesome on defense and pushing the ball on clears. Mitch Goldberg, Ben Lincoln, Charlie Cosgrove, Jonah Sisitsky, Noah Pearlman and Shea Callahan all stepped up and played a lot” said Coach Mulvey.

In less than a minute, Joey Ferrante scored assisted by Davin Nichols. Newton North’s Fitzgerald answered back 40 seconds later to make it 1-1.

Followed by Timmy Sullivan scoring an unassisted goal, making it 2-1 in less than 3 minutes of action.
Fitzgerald would answer for Newton North late in the 1st to tie the game 2-2.

Ferrante from Nichols with 2:54 left in the second. Then Sullivan’s 2nd goal came assisted by Ferrante to make it 4-2 Flyers at the half.

Newton North’s O’Malley would answer early in the 3rd to make it 4-3. With 8:22 left in the 3rd Fitzgerald ties up on a 2-man advantage. Followed by Newton’s Bryce Busa’s extra-man goal to make it 5-4 Tigers with 7:49 left in the 3rd.

Davin Nicholes would tie it up for the Flyers on an extra-man goal assisted by Ferrante, 5:50 left in the 3rd. The Flyers would strike again on a fast break assist from Mason Moy to Billy Neiberger with 3:56 left in the 3rd to make it 6-5. Less than 30 seconds later Sullivan would have his 3rd goal to make it 7-5.
Less than 40 seconds into the fourth, Sullivan would get his 4th goal with a brilliant dodge slicing the Tiger’s defense and beating 3 defenders.

From here it was all downhill. The Flyers handcuffed themselves with penalties allowing Newton to steal the game away, Mulvey said.

Busa made it 8-6 with 10:25 left in the 4th. 9:48 left in the game Fitzgerald would answer again to put the Tigers within one, 8-7.

Busa would strike again to tie it up with 6:07 left in the game. Newton’s O’Malley would give them a 9-8 edge with 4:48 left in the game.
