MARLBOROUGH – Joseph “Joe” T. Belmore, 80 of Marlborough died on Monday, April 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Marlborough Hospital.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Marlborough, born in this town in 1942, the son of the late, Joseph N. and Catherine T. (Burke) Belmore.

He graduated from Marlborough High School Class of ’64 and was employed by Polaroid as a Senior Planner for over 40 years, retiring in 2002.

Joe leaves his wife of 58 years, Shirley M. (Pitushe) Belmore of Marlborough; his son Craig J. Belmore and his wife Amy of Kingston, MA; his daughter Erin H. Kelley and her husband Shawn of S. Grafton; 3 grandchildren, Molly, Jason and Glen; and siblings, Cathy Ablondi of Clinton, Paul Belmore of MO and Jack Belmore and his wife Mary of Grafton and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Glen Belmore in 1970, his brother Richard Belmore, and brother-in-law Louis Ablondi.

Joe enjoyed making everyone he met feel special with his bright eyes and warm smile. Anyone who met him in the local restaurants that he loved to visit, always came away feeling they were important to him, no matter if they just met or had known each other for decades. He loved to drive, spot local wildlife, paint, travel, and spend time with family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, 2022, in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street in Marlborough. Burial will follow in the family lot in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beach St., Marlborough.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main Street in Marlborough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joe’s name to, the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
