ASHLAND – Superintendent Jim Adams offered a finalists the Principal post at the Mindess School, but the candidate said no.

So the search continues for a principal for the school for the 2022-23 school year.

Last month, after a prolonged search process, the district announced three finalists for the Mindess Elementary School principal position.

“After evaluating each candidate, the district offered the role to Dr. Roy Demetri Sermons, currently a principal in the Providence Public Schools. Yet, after much discussion, the chosen candidate has decided to stay in their current district and declined our offer,” said Adams tonight, April 5.

Claudia Bennett, the current principal, will retire at the end of the school year.

“The district is weighing its options, including hiring an interim for the 2022-23 school year or reopening the search for a permanent principal,” said Adams tonight.

One of the three finalists was Brophy Elementary School Principal Frank Rothwell in Framingham.
