MARLBOROUGH – Richard “Rick” D. Porter 65, of Marlborough, died on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 17, 1957, in Boston, the son of the late Roland S. and Dorothy S. (McEnaney) Porter. He grew up in Watertown.

Rick leaves his wife of 43 years, Frances “Fran” A. Porter of Marlborough, his daughter, Kyra Porter and her husband Cody Olivier; his siblings, Roberta Gonzales, Roland Porter Jr., Patricia DiRienzo and her husband Donald, Catherine Porter, James Porter and his wife Lynne, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rick enjoyed photography, vintage cars, and walks in Ogunquit, maine. Rick was an avid reader and movie enthusiast.

In his younger years he was an outdoorsman, often found camping, hiking, fishing and taking in nature.  He showcased his love for life by using his photography skills and developing the pictures himself in his personal dark room. He could often be found spending his weekends, camera in hand, at horse shows ready to capture the perfect moment while watching his daughter compete. In the last few years he would wait patiently while observing the flowers in his garden to capture photos of butterflies stopping to enjoy the flowers.

In addition to being a self-employed photographer, Rick also spent his working years as a member of Digital Federal Credit Union, where he made many forever friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main Street in Marlborough.

Following cremation burial will be private.

 Please omit flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name to, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
