MARLBOROUGH – MayorArthur Vigeant and Fire Chief Kevin Breen are announced today, March 23, two internal promotions within the Marlborough Fire Department. The members receiving the promotions are Firefighters Michael Burnell and Omar Atocha-Torres. Firefighters Burnell and Atocha-Torres have both served the City for 10 years each and will be promoted to the position of Fire Lieutenant.
“It is my pleasure to promote these two fine members of the Marlborough Fire Department. Both have been great stewards of the firefighting profession over the last decade. I trust that they will be strong leaders who will continue their dedicated service in their new roles,” said Fire Chief Kevin Breen.

Before joining the Marlborough Fire Department, Firefighter Burnell served as a Public Safety
Dispatcher/Call Firefighter for the Town of Northborough.
Firefighter Atocha-Torres, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, served on the Rescue Truck Committee and the Fire Investigation Unit during his tenure.
“We are proud to have qualified internal candidates in our Fire Department who take their profession, and
continuous education, seriously. Their decade of service speaks volumes about the level of commitment they have to the Marlborough community. These promotions are well deserved and will serve our City and department well,” said Mayor Vigeant.
