WORCESTER – The Framingham High cheerleaders finished second at the Division 1 state competition yesterday, March 13.

The MSAA winter cheerleading championship were held at Worcester State University.

Franklin High came in first with 94 point. The Flyers registered 89 points to capture second place.

Captains of the Flyers cheerleaders are Mary Bace, Layssa Santos, Yednelis Santana and Hailee Saporetti.

Seniors on the squad are Bace, Aaliyah Aga, Sydney Anderson, Santos, Santana and Saporetti.

Other members of the squad are: Gabriellly Andrade, Alyssa Brandolini, Lauren Carnicelli, Ana Chaves, Camille Cordeiro, Natalia Gutierrez, Ava Heitman, Julia Ottaviani, Haley Perez, Layssa Santos, Lunah Semprum and Keira Wiltshire.

“This team has weathered  many obstacles this season including multiple injuries that required constant changes to their difficult routine.  They never quit and although their performance today was not what they had hoped for Brandy (Chartier) and I could not be prouder of their resiliency and dedication,” said head coach Sue Pereira.

There were a dozen teams that qualified for the state championship event.

Natick High finished in 8th place with 78 points.

Lincoln-Sudbury High finished with 74.1 points.
