5. Today is the 5-year anniversary of the devastating fire at Old Path Village Plaza.

I was the first journalist/photographer on the scene after the firefighters. This was the first photo I took at 2 a.m. in the middle of a 3-alarm fire. Firefighters battled the conditions as well as the fire as there was a snow squall along with the high winds and below 0 temperatures.

Many of the businesses, including J&M Diner, have re-opened in other locations. Some in the City and some outside the City.

SOURCE offered free advertising to all the businesses, when they re-opened, and several took the digital news outlet up on that offer in 2017.

The plaza has been re-built and now houses several new small businesses.

The morning after the fire.
