In full transparency, the following is a press release submitted to SOUTCE media.
NATICK -The Natick Cultural Council has announced the award of 29 grants totaling $12,850 for cultural programs in Natick.
Some of the grant recipients include Natick Historical Society, Voices of MetroWest and Natick Public Elementary Schools.
A complete list of recipients can be found below.
The Natick Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and
humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community. Statewide, more than $4 million will be distributed by local cultural councils in 2022.
Decisions about selecting activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers.
The members of the Natick Cultural Council are: Kevin Baldwin, Prerna Dublish, Robert Hirsch, Shriya Joag, David Krentzman and Livia Mosanu.
Grants from Natick Cultural Council will support an enormous range of grass-roots activities (in-person and virtual): concerts, exhibitions, field trips for school children, after-school youth programs, writing and educational workshops, historical preservation efforts and town festivals. A prominent chunk of funds has been granted to support educational activities for young people.
The Natick Cultural Council will seek applications again in the fall. For guidelines and complete information on the Natick Cultural Council, contact Shriya Joag (chair-person) at 347-708-3725 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications and more information about
the Local Cultural Council Program are available online at https://massculturalcouncil.org/.
