FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High junior Sam Burgess broke 9 minutes in the two mile at the New England Track & Field Championships today, March 5, to finish second overall in the event.

His time was 8:58 minutes.

“This obliterated his state championship winning (and previous school record) mark last week,” said Coach Ed Crowley. “What a fantastic race.”

“In a top-heavy field including a #1 seed from Connecticut, a Stanford committed senior, Sam held on to the blistering and increasing pace for 16 perfectly executed laps,” said Coach Crowley.

Burgess and 9 other Flyers will compete at the national indoor track & field championships next weekend in New York.
