FRAMINGHAM – Keep Framingham Beautiful will hold its first-ever awards ceremony on Monday, February 28 at 7 p.n. on Zoom

Pre-registration is required, which can be done here: http://www.k-f-b.org/awards

During the one hour, the Framingham-based group will bestow “15-plus awards to the best of the best” of Keep Framingham Beautiful members, “based on some of the most memorable accomplishments from the year 2021.”

Keep Framingham Beautiful was launched due to the pandemic.

When faced with cancelling the 10th annual Framingham Earth Day Festival in April 2020, the planning committee brainstormed ways it could continue the mission of the Festival during times of social distancing.

One idea became the “Clean Up Framingham” Facebook group, where members of the Framingham community could posting pictures of litter they have cleaned up since April 22, 2020.

During the first year, more than 600 individual clean ups took place, according to the organization

Framingham became a cleaner city, and the Facebook group expanded to more than 1,000 members.

Last year, members of the group officially changed the name to Keep Framingham Beautiful, becoming a chapter of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful. Keep Massachusetts Beautiful launched in 2014 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the simple idea that “beauty matters.”
