ASHLAND – Frances I. Britton, 94, of Marlborough former longtime resident of Ashland passed away Friday Feb. 11, 2022, after a period of declining health. 

Born in Dedham, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Antoinette (Desautels) Chamberlain and wife of the late Robert John Britton who died in 2004. 

A graduate of the Katherine Dell Secretarial School, she worked as a secretary early in her life before leaving to raise her family.  Mrs. Britton was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Church Woman’s Guild in Ashland and later the New Horizons Chapel in Marlborough.  

She is survived by five children; Karen Devlin and her husband Bob of Sudbury, James Britton and his wife Maryanne of Ashland, Robert “Jay” Britton and his wife Bettyann of Ashland, Ellen Mauro and her husband John of Northborough, and David Britton and his wife Gina of Medway, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Feb. 15 at 10a.m. in St. Matthew’s Church, 26 Highland St. Southborough, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.  

Face Masks are required for all services.
