WESTON – Quentin Palfrey, the 2018 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, announced today, February 4, he will run for Massachusetts attorney general.

The Weston resident’s career has been one of public service.

“As the first Chief of the Health Care Division in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, he sued predatory health insurance companies that placed profit over patients’ health. He served in President Obama’s White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to help build an economy that works for everyone.  And most recently he served as the Acting General Counsel for the Department of Commerce to help the Biden administration roll out the Build Back Better initiative,” wrote his campaign.

“For nearly twenty years, Quentin has worked as an election protection attorney, and in 2019, he founded Voter Protection Corps, a nonprofit that works to increase voting access in states across the county, and successfully led efforts to stop voter suppression ahead of the 2020 election,” announced his campaign.

Palfrey, 47, is the third Democratic to enter the race for Attorney General, now that Maura Healey announced she is running for Governor.

Former Boston city councilor Andrea Campbell and labor attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan also are running as Democrats.

“Quentin was inspired to pursue this path of public service by his parents, pediatricians who advocated on behalf of children with complex medical needs and their families.  As an undergraduate in college, Quentin started a literacy program to empower adults living in public housing and homeless shelters. After college, he directed an anti-child abuse program in the Philippines, and as a law student, he represented victims of domestic violence and tenants facing eviction at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau,” said his campaign.

Palfrey lives in Weston with his wife, Anna and their three children.
