FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky has had conversations with retired City of Framingham DPW Director Peter Sellers on the “possibility” of a return to the City as DPW Director “for a period,” according to the Mayor’s Chief of Staff.

Last month, Mayor Sisitsky re-appointed the City’s engineer William Sedewitz to his second 90-day term as Acting Director of Public Works.

Former Mayor Yvonne Spicer appointed Sedewitz to his first 90-day term as Acting DPW Director on October 28, 2021.

Under the City’s charter, an individual can only be appointed to an acting position for a maximum of 180 days.

“Bill is the best option right now,” said the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, “but the Mayor is having conversations with Peter Sellers on a possible return for a period.”

The City of Framingham began advertising for a full-time permanent DPW Director in October 2021.

In 2020, Mayor Spicer appointed Blake Lukis Director, and the City Council unanimously approved it.

In October 2021, Lukis left the City of Framingham as DPW Director to become the Executive Director at Dedham-Westwood Water District.

Mayor Spicer had appointed Lukis DPW Director in July 2020. Lukis had served as deputy DPW Director from June 2019 to July 2020.

There is currently no deputy DPW Director in the City of Framingham.
