FRAMINGHAM – Richard J. Preservati, 88, of Eastham, former lifelong resident of Framingham passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, after a short period of declining health. 

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Prospero and Angelina (Perini) Preservati. 

He was the loving husband of Evelyn (Nei) Preservati for 65 years. 

Richard was the owner and operator of Bethany Trucking Inc. for many years before opening Prosperous Gardens Nursery in Ashland until his retirement. 

He was an active member of the Ashland Lions Club and was a past president and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for outstanding service.

After moving to Eastham he continued to serve his community and joined the Provincetown Lions and the Eastham Elks.  

Richard served his country honorably in the National Guard-726 Ordinance Div. in Natick.

 In addition to his top notch wife, he is survived by two loving sons, Richard and his wife Lisa of Hopedale, and William and his wife Lori Wilcox of Ashland, four amazing grandchildren, Jannine and husband Thomas Almquist, Richard and fiancé Kerri S., Michael and wife Lyndsey, and Billy, and four super great-grandchildren, Lexxus, John, Gracie, and Everly.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. in St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly St. Framingham, with burial to follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery in Framingham. 

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.

 Face Masks are Required for all services. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Framingham Heart Study.
