Framingham Mayor: City Hall Closed Friday Due To Storm; DPW Ready For Snow

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham’s City Hall will be closed on Friday, January 7, due to the pending snowstorm, said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky tonight.

Although the physical building will be closed, essential staff, including Framingham DPW, Police, and Fire will be working throughout the storm.

“Staff at the Memorial Building will work remotely,” said the Mayor.

Interim Framingham DPW Director William Sedewitz said the DPW is prepared for the first storm of the year (and the first major storm of the season).

“We will have 75 pieces of equipment” out clearly the snow on the road, said the interim director.

Framingham Public Schools will be closed on Friday. First snow day of the school year.

Keefe Technical and the Christa McAuliffe Charter School also have snow days.

The City of Framingham declared an emergency snow parking ban earlier today.

There will be no trash & recycling collection curbside on Friday, due to the storm.

Trash will be collected on Saturday.

Mayor Sisitsky said the the decision to close the Memorial Building was made late today, when the timing of the storm changed.

The worst of the snowstorm is expected to be between 6 a.m. and noon.

A delayed opening made no sense said Sisitsky, as City Hall closes early on Fridays at 2 p.m.

Mayor Sisistky said himself and COO Mike Tusino will be in the Memorial Building tomorrow, after the storm subsides.

But he said he will be working the phones, as he was doing tonight.
