1 The City began registering residents for free Rapid COVID-19 test kits on Thursday, December 30.

The kits will not be distributed however until December 30 or January 8.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts supplied the 10,000 kits to the City of Framinghm to help stop the surge of COVID cases near the holidays.

The City’s health director told SOURCE on Sunday that some of the free kits were distributed before Christmas.

2. The City has been experiencing a surge in COVID cases since Thanksgiving. Last week the City reported a 53% increase in cases in the last 7 days.

3. According to the Mayor’s publicly posted schedule, Mayor Yvonne Spicer has no public events today or this week on her calendar. Her final day in office is Friday, December 31.

The inauguration for Mayor-elect Charlie Sisitsky and other elected officials is Saturday, January 1 at noon. It will be a virtual event for the public.
