BOSTON – With a surge of Omicron coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has issued a “mask advisory.”

Under the advisory, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is now asked to wear a mask in indoors in public places.

The advisory is not a mandate, but a recommendation by the state’s public health department and the Baker-Polito administration.

“For the foreseeable future, Massachusetts and most of the country will see large numbers of new cases,” Gov. Baker said

The Governor said “vaccinated people may test positive, but their chances of dying or getting seriously ill are so small, they pale in comparison to so many riskier behaviors out there.”
