FRAMINGHAM – Two of the top high school hockey teams in the state battled it out at Loring Arena on Thursday night.

In the end, the Flyers defeated Pope Francis High 3-2 in overtime, with Caleb Patrick scoring the game-winner. It was Patrick’s second goal of the night.

P.J. Farese had a goal and an assist in the victory for the Flyers.

Noah Albright and Davin Nichols each had an assist for Framingham.

Thursday night was the season and home opener for the Flyers.

The Flyers were scheduled to have their home opener on Wednesday, December 15 against bay State Conference rival Natick High but the game was postponed, after a couple of Red Hawks contracted COVID-19.
