FRAMINGHAM – Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka has secured $250,000 in funds to help launch a health clinic within the Framingham Public Schools.
The public school district of about 10,000 students plans to open a health clinic at the former Farley school on Flagg Drive as part of its new Welcoming Center.
“This will help students get the health services they need,” said the Senate President to SOURCE.
“As we look to expand the scope of the Framingham Public Schools Welcome Center to better serve our children and their families, the support from Senate President Spilka and our entire legislative delegation has been incredible,” said Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay to SOURCE.

“With the earmark that Senate President Spilka has secured, we will be able to proceed with both the space planning and construction design work at the Farley Building,” said Supt. Tremblay.
“In anticipation of MassBay’s relocation to their new home in a couple of years, this funding will bring us closer to realizing the vision of an expanded health suite for registering families who do not yet have access to the healthcare system, but who need immediate immunizations for their children to start school, expansion of preschool opportunities for Framingham 4-year olds, particularly for families who have never been afforded this opportunity for their children, and much more,” said Supt. Tremblay.
This is “so important. Kids can’t learn if they are not at their most healthy,” said Senate President Spilka.
“This earmark is a solid down payment on a brighter future for our community,” said Supt. Tremblay.
