FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High School is reporting a baker’s dozen more new COVID cases today, December 9, after reporting 15 cases on Wednesday and 11 cases earlier in the week.

There have been 39 cases at Framingham High this week.

Framingham High School has more than 2,500 students. In total there have now been 76 cases since the 2021-2022 school year began.

McCarthy Elementary School reported 9 new COVID cases today.

In total, 28 new cases were reported in the Framingham Public Schools today, December 9.

It is unknown if the cases are students or staff or a combination of both.

The district said it was seeing a “surge” in cases yesterday.

“At this point in time we are significantly delayed in our ability to contact trace due to the surge we are experiencing as a district. This is not unique to Framingham; other urban districts are experiencing similar surges,” said the Framingham Public Schools COVID team.

In response to this surge, we are engaging in the following measures:

  • The COVID Team has been in contact with the Framingham Public Health Department along with the State Health Department and will continue to work closely with them;
  • The COVID Team is exploring contracting with outside contact tracing companies to assist with the volume of contact tracing; and
  • The COVID Team has been in touch with the DESE Rapid Response team to provide technical support and will continue to collaborate intentionally.

“At this time, as we work with our current resources and the rising numbers, in consultation with the Framingham Department of Health, we are shifting to a modified risk mitigation protocol, which prioritizes the tracing and notifying of unvaccinated close contacts only. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate through the current surge.,” said the District’s COVID team.

Overall there have been 330 cases in the Framingham Public Schools this 2021-22 school year.

Framingham High has the most cases with 75. Harmony Grove Elementary is second with 33 cases.
