FRAMINGHAM – The 5-member Framingham Cable Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, December 6 virtually at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held on Zoom.

The main agenda item is a discussion focused on the renewal of the City of Framingham’s contract with Verizon.

The contract ends on August 6, 2022.

The committee last met on November 8, 2021.

The 5-member Cable Advisory Committee, appointed by Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer, negotiates franchise agreements with the City’s three cable television operators, RCN, Comcast, and Verizon, and to ensure that the provisions of those contracts are implemented.

Satellite television providers are not required to have a license.

The Cable Advisory Committee also acts as an ombudsman for Framingham citizens on unresolved cable TV billing errors and persistent repair problems.

Per federal and state regulations, the Cable Advisory Committee has jurisdiction only over cable TV services.

The City does not have the authority to intercede on problems involving Internet access, voice telephone service, or satellite TV.
