WELLESLEY – The Framingham High boys varsity soccer team tied Wellesley 1-1 in a Bay State Conference matchup on Tuesday, October 19.

Wellesley jumped out to an early lead on a service from the left side that eluded junior goalie Tyler Ingham, said Coach Jon Wood.

The Flyers equalized late in the first half in a great breakaway goal by junior captain Jack Carney, said Coach Wood.

The two teams traded quality opportunities in the second half but neither could capitalize, said Coach Wood.

“Sophomore midfielder Brendan Walker was excellent all day long. He controlled the right side of the field and responded well to Wellesley’s physical style,” said Coach Wood.

Up front, senior Gui Mendes was active and created quality chances to score, added Coach Wood.

The Flyers now stand at 8-1-4 on the season, having qualified for post-season last week with a big win over rival natick High.

Up next, the Flyers will host the Tigers of Newton North on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at the high school.
