FRAMINGHAM – The Massachusetts chapter of the Sierra Club announces that it has officially endorsed Adam Steiner for re-election to the Framingham City Council.

“Adam Steiner has been a champion for increasing renewable energy, reducing waste, and
expanding access to green and open space,” said Rev. Vernon K. Walker, Chair of the
Political Committee of the Sierra Club Massachusetts Chapter. “Voters in Framingham who
want elected officials ready to tackle the climate crisis can count him as an ally.”

The Sierra Club is the most influential grassroots environmental organization in the country with over 700,000 members dedicated to its mission to explore, protect, and preserve our natural environment.

“I am truly honored to be endorsed by the Sierra Club,” said Steiner. “I share their belief that
progressive values focused on protecting the environment need to be turned into action on the local level. Framingham has made small but important strides in this area including banning single-use plastic bags, deploying several electric vehicles in city departments, and installing solar panels on the McAuliffe Library.”

“However, we need to be doing more, more to reduce trash, more to utilize clean energy, and
more to encourage walking and biking. We need to think about our trails as part of the
transportation infrastructure including the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. We need to be doing more
every day – it is the right thing to do for the environment and for the people of Framingham.”

“With your support on November 2, I look forward to continuing to lead Framingham in our
efforts to fight climate change, reduce littering and pollution, and protect our open spaces.”
