UPDATED: Undefeated State Champion Girls Lacrosse Team, NFL Receiver, All-American Goalie, Soccer Captain, & Footballer Among 2021 Flyers Hall of Fame Inductees

FRAMINGHAM – The undefeated 2006 Framingham High girls lacrosse team, that won the state championship, will be inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fall on Saturday, November 6.

An NFL football player, an All-American Lacrosse goalie & state champion wrestler, and two athletes who died tragically, including one on Sept. 11, will be a part of third class of inductees.

All played or coached at Framingham High School, Framingham North High School, or Framingham South High School.

To be inducted in 2022:

• Bill Brooks: Bill was a star football and basketball player at Framingham North High School, where he broke and set several records. Upon graduation, he became a wide receiver for the Boston University football program. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 1986 NFL Draft. Bill played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Colts, the Bills, & The Redskins. He was Colts’ leading receiver for five of his seven seasons with them, and recorded a career best 1,131 yards in 1986. With the Bills, he assisted them to a championship appearance in Super Bowl XXVIII in the 1993 season. He finished his NFL career with 583 receptions for 8,001 yards and 46 touchdowns. Bill was the first Indianapolis Colts player to be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor on August 22, 1998.

• PJ Rovinelli: PJ was the Flyer of the Year in 2001. An 8-time varsity letter athlete, he was captain of football, wrestling, and lacrosse his senior year. In football, he was a member of the Division 2 Super Bowl Championship Team. He was a first team all-conference defensive end. In wrestling, he was the undefeated Division 1 state champion his senior year and a New England finalist. He finished his career with 118 wins, which was the school record until 2010. He was twice the wrestling team MVP. In lacrosse, PJ was a US Lacrosse High School All-American goalie his senior year, as well as an all-state and all-conference first team member. PJ set the school record in total saves and saves percentage. He was the team MVP his senior year. After graduation, he played lacrosse and wrestled at Springfield College

• Jeovanni Lopez: Jeovanni was a 4-year varsity soccer player at Framingham High School and became captain his Senior year. Lopez played semi-professional soccer with the Bulldogs during his senior year as well. Upon graduation in 2000, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he was stationed in Japan and South Korea. He later served in the Iraq war. He rose to the rank of lance corporal before being honorably discharged in 2004. He moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue his dream with music, and almost finished his masters degree in recording arts. Tragically, he died in a car accident on May 6, 2007 in Orlando, 6 weeks before completing his studies.

• Todd Hill: Todd was a star athlete at Framingham North High School. He played football all 4 years. He received the Paul M. Cahill Award. Todd played basketball as a freshman and ran track. He graduated in 1985. He was employed as software salesman for QRS Corporation.  Todd was staying on the 17th floor of the Marriott Hotel at the World Trade Center in NYC when terrorists hijacked and crashed two planes into the towers. He died at age 34.

• 2006 Framingham High Girls Lacrosse Team was undefeated at 25-0 and crowned the Division 1 state champion in a thrilling 13-12 overtime win over Longmeadow High. Coached by Stacey Freda, the team was led by captains Shaunna Kaplan and Jenna Abelli. Other members of the championship undefeated team were 2018 Flyers Hall of Fame inductee Kristen Igoe, 2019 Flyers Hall of Fame inductee Melanie Baskind, Jessica Gordon, Katelyn Roche, Lisa Lach, Jamie Ferrara, Sam Zetlin, Denise Beliveau, Briana Costello, Carolyn Romano, Devin O’Leary, Julie Stabile, Michelle Olivera, Lauren Roche, Briana Davis, Meghan Jones, Colette “Coco” Josey, Jenny Jones, Erica Schecter, Ashley Donaghey, Ariel Speigel, Jenna Cooke, Stephanie Corrales, Meaghan Fitzpatrick, and Shannon Manning. Assistant Coaches were Gretchen Bell, John Gallagher, E.J. Kluge, Liza Hansel, and Michelle Boyer.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, November 6 at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Framingham.

Framingham Public Schools eliminated athletic fees for all Framingham High athletes in 2018. Proceeds from the Flyers Hall of Fame ceremony, and subsequent induction ceremonies, benefit the Framingham High athletics department.

In the inaugural Flyers Hall of Fame in 2018, inducted was Blake Andre Bellefeuille, Tanner Guarino, Kristin Igoe, Peter Anthony Taglianetti, and George Wheeler.

In 2019, inducted was Dr. Melanie Baskind, Richard Carter, Abbey Capobianco, Arnold Garron, Lou Merloni, and Brad Newman

No one inducted in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Flyers Hall of Fame Committee requested nominations for the Hall of Fame earlier this year, and selected the third class of inductees in September.

The Committee is accepting application for the 4th class of inductees in 2022.
