FRAMINGHAM – In late August, Framingham Public Schools celebrated the re-naming of one of its nine elementary schools from Woodrow Wilson to Harmony Grove Elementary.

But less than a month into school and “vandals” stole the sign.

“It has not been located,” said school officials.

A temporary composite sign was applied with construction adhesive over the existing Wilson Elementary sign, for the re-naming event until the permanent sign arrived, explained Framingham Buildings & Ground Director Matthew Torti.

The permanent sign has been on “back order as there was a delay in shipping from the granite quarry,” said Torti.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused a shortage of granite in the market. It has been impacting cemetery stones throughout 2021, and also impacting the Framingham Public School district.

Torti said the new “Harmony Grove granite sign is scheduled to arrive this week.”
