FRAMINGHAM – Emilia “Tina”  Smith, 96, a beloved and admired great grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, educator, card player and the cornerstone of a family rich in love and tradition died Sunday morning August 29, 2021 following a brief illness.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Santino and Elvina Columbo and spent the majority of her life at her beloved 208 Beaver Street home.

Tina was a graduate of Framingham High School,  Framingham State College, and was a Chapter One teacher at Memorial and Barbieri Elementary School for many years.

Tina was an avid Bridge player who could often be found at senior centers in both Framingham and Natick.  She loved her cottage, the Dolly House, on the Cape in Dennis where she continued to play Bridge, teach her grandchildren the games of Whist and bocci, ride her bike and feed her whole family throughout the summer.

The definition of a matriarch, Tina is survived by her children, James Archie Smith & his wife Karen of Woburn, David Smith & his wife Penny of Framingham, Susan Haranas & her husband Mark of Hopkinton, Jane Harrington & her husband Michael of Marlborough, and Charles Smith & his wife Diane of Medway, 19 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren.  Tina was predeceased by her dear husband of 67 years, James A Smith, her son, John Smith, and her granddaughter, Tammie Brinkley.

Tina’s family will honor and remember her life privately.
