SLIDESHOW: Boss Baby Entertains Families At Bowditch

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Parks and Recreation Department held its annual family movie night at Bowditch Field last night, August 24.

This free event was originally scheduled for August 19, but was moved after Tropical Storm Fred flooded the field and the parking lot with rain.

The gates first opened at 5:30 p.m. and family fun night began at 6 pm. Various games such as
badminton, cornhole, hockey, and basketball were set up on one half of the field for kids to
enjoy.

“I thought it was just the movie, but when we came and saw all this stuff on the lawn I was like
‘Oh my Gosh’,” one attendee said about the yard games.

Another attendant pointed out the variety of activities: “My kids are having a great time. There
seems to be something for each of them.”

Refreshments were also available throughout the night.

As the event progressed, a giant inflatable screen was set up on one side of the field onto which the movie would be projected.

The featured movie was the animated film The Boss Baby.

Viewers brought their own seats and blankets and spread out across the grass.

This was the 10th annual family movie night hosted by Parks and Recreation.

Elaine Prue, Framingham Superintendent of Recreation at the Parks and Recreation department, has attended all 10 outdoor movie nights at Bowditch Field.

“It’s a lot of just watching the kids and seeing their faces light up,” Prue said when asked what
was her favorite part of the event.

The outdoor venue provided a safe and comfortable environment for attendees. Framingham, like the Commonwealth and the U.S., still is dealing with the COVID pandemic.

“I feel very lucky that we’ve been able to hold the event without any restrictions,” Prue said.

After its permanent cancellation last year, everyone was excited to bring the tradition back to
Framingham.

Many attendants felt that the family experience and bonding was the best part of the night, and Prue agreed: “The more fun you can have with your own family, the better.”
