Overall, the Commonwealth saw a modest increase in population to 7.03 millions people.

The 2020 census took place during the pandemic. Some demographic experts have said that may have impacted the counts.

One other issue demographers have noted is that many individuals chose to check the “multi” race box this time around, more than in 2020.

Ashland’s white population decreased slightly due to that fact from 13,530 to 12,891. Whites are still the majority in Ashland at 68.5%.

The multi population increase from 252 to 1,132 and makes up now 6% of the Town’s population.

Nationally, the Asian population exploded followed by a huge jump in the Latino population.

Ashland’s Asian population increased by almost 70% from 1,450 to 2,458.

Ashland’s Latino population increased from 740 to 1,157 individuals.

The Asian population is about 13% of Ashland, followed by Latino at 6%, Multi-race at 6% and Blacks at 2.7%.
