DOVER, VERMONT – Framingham High alumni Max Ferrari, Tyler Anes, & Stephen Anes won the prestigious 47th Annual Bartenders Open in Dover, Vermont with a winning score of -14, edging local favorites (the Munsill/Bullock Quartet) by 1 stroke, according to golf pro Matt Conroy.

“It came down to the final putt of the entire tournament” for the Framingham Fore said Tiago Anes, who rounding out their foursome.

On the final hole – the boys knew they needed to drain an 18-foot putt to assure themselves of the victory.

Both Stephen and Tiago missed their putts – when Max Ferrari stepped up and what looked to be a perfect roll inexplicable fell off to the left leaving the team shaking their heads.

However, Tyler Anes maintained a positive outlook – as did Stephen Anes 2 holes prior when he sunk a 35-foot birdie putt to regain the momentum.

Tyler stepped up (knowing that a putt would clinch their teams 2nd Bartenders Championship in five attempts) and calmly rolled the 18-footer down the slope and it disappeared into the cup – as witnessed by the gallery that followed this group all day.

Ferrari, who just days prior won the Framingham Country Club’s member championship, jumped for joy.

Said one observer “he looked like Phil Michelson after winning the Masters.”

Ferrari, who was the MIAA State Champion while at Framingham High, also hit a phenomenal 235-yard second shot within 5 feet of the pin on the groups final Par 5 to secure their second Eagle of the day – allowing Tyler’s birdie putt to result in the victory.

Ferrari put it best that about this year’s round – ”This is special! Seeing the community come out and support the Valley makes this team’s hard work, and our focus on the “next shot” our keys to victory. It was well worth all the time at the range that we did as a team! I was ready to run through a wall with the enthusiasm that Tiago brought to the course!”

The team will attempt to defend their title next year and keep the Bartenders Trophy where it rightfully belongs – up in the Montaniview Circle (with a temporary visit to Woodcrest Acres in Framingham).

Tiago Anes, has seen these three boys grow into young men and he has coached all of them at one point in their youth.

“Mmy mantra has always been – you play to have fun, but at the end of the day I would ask them – what’s fun?” My answer was always….”WINNING IS FUN,” said Tiago Anes.
