WASHINGTON DC – The number of coronavirus cases world-wide surpassed 200 million today, August 3, according to John Hopkins University.

The pandemic began in early 2020, and continues more than half the way through 2021.

There have been 4.25 million death due to COVID-19 worldwide, with the United States leading with 614.705 deaths.

The United States also leads the world in COVID-19 cases with more than 35.3 million cases.

India is second with 31.7 million plus cases, and Brazil is third with almost 20 million cases.

Russia and France are fourth and fifth with just over 6 million cases each.

Earlier today, the World Health Organization called for a moratorium on coronavirus vaccine booster shots until the end of September.

The organizations wants all countries to vaccinate at least 10 percent of their populations, before boosters are given.
