ASHLAND – John Vienneau, Sr., 66, of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2021, at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton.

He was born at the Heidelberg Army Hospital in Germany to the late Victor and Cynthia (Neale) Vienneau.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Sandra (Dakai) Vienneau; sons John Vienneau, Jr. of Duxbury (Christen Vienneau) and Jeremy Vienneau (Celine Vienneau) of Auburn; brother William Vienneau; brothers-in-law Charles Dakai of Millville and Ronald Dakai (Patricia Dakai) of Ashland; several nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt, Rita Renaud of Auburn. His grandchildren Ava, Jackson, and Zachary Vienneau were his pride and joy.

John proudly served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps, specializing as an armorer at the USMC base in San Diego.

John worked for many years as a van driver for Busy Bee Transportation and Kiessling Transit, assisting elderly and disabled clients.

He enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins, playing pool and the guitar, taking photographs at family gatherings, nature, and being with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sat. July 3 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

Visiting hours will be held Sat. from 9:30- to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ashland Emergency Fund, P.O. Box 112, Ashland, MA, 01721. Please designate food pantry on your check.
