FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Legion’s Matt Gaskin took to the mound Friday night against Sturbridge starter Mavrick Rizy at Bowditch Field.

Framingham won 6-3.

Sturbridge would take a 2-0 lead before Framingham would get on the board to cut the lead to 2-1 after two innings.

In the third inning, Framingham’s Post 74 Max Stevelman (2-3 with 1 RBI and 2 Runs scored) ripped a single to score Aidan Kent (2-3 with 2 SB and 1 Run Scored) who has led off the inning with a base hit and then stole second base. David Maude walked (1-3, RBI Double 2 SB, 1 Run Scored) and moved to second on a base hit by Framingham’s catcher Jack Matarese (2-2 with 2 RBI’s).

A wild pitch would score Stevelman as Framingham took a 3-2 lead. On the next pitch David Maude stole third base and then scored on a ball that trickled away from the catcher to put Framingham up 4-2.

Framingham’s Braeden McKenna worked in relief with two strikeouts, as he pitched Post 74 into the fifth inning. Cody Coleman came in to replace McKenna on the bump. Sturbridge would score one run in fifth inning cutting the lead to 4-3.

Framingham would score one more run in the bottom of the fifth on an Alex Duffy RBI to increase their lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the 6th, Angelo Moutafis lead off with a walk. Kyle Chan was called on to pinch run.

Two pitches later, David Maude hit double to left center field scoring Chan from first base.

Coleman shut the door in the 7th inning to pick up the save for Framingham Legion.

Framingham Legion (2-1) will host a double header with Main South at Bowditch on Sunday at noon and 2 p.m.
