FRAMINGHAM – Mayor Yvonne Spicer has nominated attorney Marques Lipton to replace Framingham License Commission Chair Adam Barnosky on the 5-member Commission.

Barnosky, who has served on the Commission since its inception in 2018, and has been the Commission’s only chair since it began, is moving out of the City of Framingham.

Lipton, who lives in District 1, was nominated for a term through June 2023.

Lipton has 12 years of experience as an attorney representing small businesses and individuals, including restaurants, contractors, and other professionals, according to the Spicer administration.

The nomination needs approval from the City legislative branch of government, the 11-member City Council. A simple majority of 6 votes is needed for approval.

The Board of License Commissioners grant licenses relating to alcoholic beverages under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 138 and Massachusetts General Laws chapter 140 which are not, by the provisions of said chapter, placed within the jurisdiction of another municipal
officer or agency.

Other members of the Framingham License Commission include Vice Chair Tiel Wadland, of District 3, Sara Porter of District 7, Stuart Pologe of District 7, and Laura Medrano of District 7.

The City of Framingham chart had Wadland in District 2 and Sara in District 4, which is incorrect.
