FRAMINGHAM – Sharon L. (Beck) Mormino, 76, longtime resident of Framingham, formerly of Kaolin, PA, passed away on Tuesday June 15, 2021, with her daughters and husband of 51 years by her side.

She was at home, where she had been fighting her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease for the past five years.

Daughter of the late Cassimer and Ethel (Irey) Beck, Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Paul Mormino; her daughters Elizabeth and her husband Brian Dacey of Hopkinton, MA and Ellen and her husband Gregory LaRosa of Pipersville, PA; and seven grandchildren: Catherine, Caleb, and Donovan Dacey and Sam, Sebastian, Silas, and Solomon LaRosa.  She was predeceased by a third daughter, Carolyn Mormino, and brother-in-law, Christopher Wall.

Sharon is also survived by her brother, Barry Beck and his wife Kathy of Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law Janet (Mormino) Wall of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law Thomas Mormino and his wife Susan of Mercer Island, WA; and five nieces and nephews.

The family is so thankful for those who loved and cared for Sharon, making it possible for her to remain in the home that she loved.

Sharon had a happy childhood in rural Pennsylvania, graduating from Kennett Square High School in 1963 alongside many of the dear friends with whom she had attended school for twelve years.  She was editor of the yearbook; captain of the varsity field hockey and basketball teams; saxophone player in the marching band; and winner of the prestigious W. Earl Rupert Memorial Cup for scholarship, school spirit, and service to the school.

In 1967, Sharon graduated from Mount Holyoke College where she met her best friend, Karen, and then worked as a Licensed Social Worker until the time she became a mother.

Sharon and Paul raised their children in Framingham, where she was an active member and president of the PTO, school volunteer, Framingham United Soccer coach, president of her bowling league, and office manager at 4 Seasons Sports.

She attended all the sporting events of her daughters and grandchildren, often with one of her beloved basset hounds in tow.

Sharon was an active member of her community – she touched the lives of all who knew her – the children she coached, the friends of her daughters, and the friends who knew and loved her.

Sharon’s true joy was becoming “Gammie” in 2003 and spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.  She loved them each for who they truly are – their interests and curiosities, their quirks and their naughty sides, and most of all, their laughter, which she was so good at eliciting.

There will be a celebration of Sharon’s life at the Holliston Historical Society Barn, 547 Washington Street, Holliston, MA on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m..  This will be as she wished – comfortable clothes, light food and drinks, and lots of memories and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Sharon’s love of animals by making a donation to the ASPCA on Sharon’s Memorial page.

Arrangements by Norton Funeral Home in Framingham.
