FRAMINGHAM – Not sure when the restrictions for the pandemic would end, Cameron Middle School theatre director Terri Shea staged the school’s annual musical outdoors in 2021. The middle school students performed Honk Jr. on Friday night and two shows on Saturday, June 12.

Honk Jr. is a musical seeking to unite a community, while teaching tolerance.

“Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling siblings. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be,” according to the press release.

“This delightful adaptation of the beloved Ugly Duckling fable and the award-winning musical is a heartwarming celebration of what makes us special,” said Director Shea.
