FBOSTON – City of Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer, an alumni of UMass Boston, will give the keynote address at the virtual commencement ceremony on May 27 at the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Spicer was sworn into office on January 1, 2018 as the first Mayor of Framingham.

Previously, she was the Vice President for Advocacy and Educational Partnerships at the Museum of Science, Boston.

Prior to joining the museum, she served as a teacher and administrator in both Framingham and Newton Public Schools.

Spicer was the first African American woman elected to the Board of Directors of the International Technology Engineering Education Association (ITEEA).

Mayor Spicer announced this month she would run for a second term.
