FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framinghan will host a civic engagement forum for new leaders on Saturday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We are looking for interested Framingham residents to join us to learn about an exciting new forum where active City of Framingham staff will teach a forum on Civic Engagement. If you are the next generation of leader, have ever thought about leading or adding to the history of your city, or ever been interested about how City government works; then join us for this informational session to lean how to serve your community and make history,” wrote the City of Framingham.

Attendees will learn how to “join City Boards and Commissions,” added the City in its posting.

The posting also said attendees could become “a Neighborhood Ambassador” and “contribute your skills and talents to public programs”

The posting noting attendees could learn about public art.

“Hear from City Hall Staff members about how City Policy and National Policy connect and how City Departments work together to keep The City moving,” wrote the City of Framingham.

“Become a civic mentor, meet a staff mentor who can guide you in your career goals using your interests and government to attend local meetings based on your passions,” wrote the City of Framingham.

This year – 2021 – is an election year in the City. Voters will elect a Mayor, a 9-member School Committee and 9 District City Councilors.

“Graduates from the forum will become members of group of Civic Forum Ambassadors that will report to Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer on behalf of their neighborhoods,” wrote the City. “Learn how to harness Social Media and classic engagement tools to become a community leader”
