FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Public Schools reported just one new COVID case yesterday, May 11.

The latest case was reported at Wilson Elementary school.

With the latest update on the dashboard, the district has had a total of 166 cases this 2020-21 academic school year.

The district does not list if cases are teachers, staff, or students in the dashboard, or when the district sends emails to staff or families.

Framingham High School leads the district with 42 cases.

McCarthy Elementary on Flagg Drive is second with 12, and Fuller Middle School, also on Flagg Drive, is third with 11.

Wilson has had a total of 7 cases all school year.

High School students are not set to return full-time in-person learning until May 17, but the district announced last week that Framingham High students would return today, May 12.

A projected 62% of the students at the high school have decided to go full-time in-person.

The Framingham Public Schools began full-time in-person classes for middle school students on April 28.

On April 5, elementary school students returned to full-time in-person classroom education.

The district conducts PCR testing for staff.

Students are being testing via pooled testing.

Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay announced April 28, the participating rate in the free COVID-19 pooled testing, has increased to 70% at the elementary level.

Tremblay told the School Committee district-wide the rate is about 60%, as the participation rate in the secondary levels (middle and high) is only at about 50%.

Participation is voluntary in the program.

Only students who are part of the in-person or hybrid learning can participate in the pooled testing. Remote students do not participate in pooled testing.

In mid-March, only 46% of students were participating in the district’s pooled testing program to identify COVID-19 cases.
