FRAMINGHAM – It’s May so road construction in the City of Framingham will be increasing.

Below is a list of City of Framingham, state, and utility projects the week of May 2 in the City.

Construction schedules are weather permitting and subject to change.

Edgell Road Gas Main Replacement: Eversource gas will continue replacing gas main on Edgell Road between the Nobscot intersection and Donovan Drive. Expect moderate delays. Lane shifts and/or a one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Fenton Street Sewer Main Replacement: The Wastewater Department will replace a section of sewer main on Fenton Street near Old Connecticut Path. On Monday, May 3, a one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect on Old Connecticut Path. The rest of the week, Fenton Street will be open to residents and emergency vehicles only.

Gilbert Street Gas Main Installation: Eversource gas will continue replacing gas main on Gilbert Street between Nipmuc Road and Winthrop Street. Expect minor delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Leland Street Sidewalk and Road Improvements (Between Irving and Beaver Streets): Sidewalk work continues. Milling and paving are scheduled for Monday, May 3, and Wednesday, May 5, 2021. A detour will be in effect for milling and paving. For the rest of the week, a two-way and/or one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Police details will be on-site to facilitate traffic.

Main Street Spot Paving Repair: A spot paving repair will be made on Main Street near Centre Music, Tuesday morning, May 4, between 4-7 a.m. Expect minor delays. Police details will be on-site to facilitate traffic. 

Mt. Wayte Avenue Gas Main and Regulator Pit Replacement (Between Union Avenue and Franklin Street) – Eversource Gas: Eversource will continue gas main work on Mt. Wayte Avenue. Expect moderate delays. A partial road closure will be in effect on Mt. Wayte Avenue eastbound. Traffic traveling eastbound will be detoured. 

Newton Place Water Main Replacement: Preparation for water main replacement continues. Newton Place will be open to residents and emergency vehicles only during construction. 

Nobscot Intersection Improvements: The City’s contractor will continue installing drainage on Water Street. Eversource Electric will relocate aerial wires on Water Street. Expect moderate delays. A two-way and/or one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Pleasant Street Water and Sewer Design: A City hired contractor will conduct soil investigations on Pleasant Street between Bosworth Road and Temple Street. Expect moderate delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. 

Prospect Street Retaining Wall Repair: Retaining wall repairs will be made on Tuesday/Wednesday, May 4-5, 2021. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect during repair operations. Expect moderate delays. 

Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey (SSES), Phase 6: Sewer main pipe investigations will be conducted near Staples Drive, Crossing Boulevard, California Avenue, New York Avenue, Goodnow Lane, Rockridge Road, and Gates Street areas. Expect minor delays.

Speen Street Rail Trail Parking: Sidewalk, crosswalk, and parking lot site improvements will be made on Thursday-Friday, May 6-7, 2021. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.

Warren Road, Dennison Avenue, and Walnut Street Surface Treatment Preparations: Spot milling and paving operations will be conducted on Tuesday, May 4, and Thursday, May 6. A two-way and/or one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect moderate delays.
