FRAMINGHAM – Rene Tokonda Akasa, 65 of Framingham died on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne Umumbu, and their two sons Alain and David. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a huge network of close friends and family from the Framingham area.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rene and his wife moved to the United States in the mid 80’s and settled in Framingham after he finished his studies in Europe.

He then attended UMass Lowell and earned another bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.

After completing his degree he obtained a job at Teradyne, where he worked for over 15 years. He took great pride in his professional position as a Test Engineer. Rene was extremely selfless and would do whatever he could to support family members locally and back in his native Congo.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling in his free time.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his funeral service Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10 am. at First United Methodist Church, 360 Water Street, Framingham. This may be viewed livestream by logging on to: https://www.harborview.live/ 

Burial will follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.

Visiting hours will be at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham, Friday, April 30, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m.
