MARLBOROUGH – As Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest (BGCMW) prepares for the upcoming summer session, it is important to reflect on the importance of safe, affordable programming for local youth. This past year has been difficult to say the least, and especially on at-risk children.
During these dark times, the Clubs opened their doors and gave kids a safe space to cope, to process their emotions, and to grow in a nurturing environment. Youth found comfort and security in staff members and that has made all the difference in making
it through this rough period.
Evan, a member of the Marlborough Clubhouse, took full advantage of the positive mentorship that comes with the Club experience. He started this school year at the Club as one of the members who required a lot of staff attention. He was easily frustrated and let emotions get the best of him. With amazing mentors and a safe environment over the last six months, Evan has begun to turn things around. He built strong relationships within the Club and now models great behavior for other members. He was even named Member of the Month for April.
Editor’s Note: The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest chose not to provide Evan’s last name

Real life examples like this show the significant role the Clubs play in giving youth a sense of normalcy again.
Summer programming will let kids be kids again and the MetroWest community agrees. DCU for Kids, St. Mary’s Credit Union, TJX Companies, Northern Management Group, Avidia Bank, and Long Automotive are challenging you to give youth a summer they will never forget.
All donations made to the Summer Camp Fund by June 1 will be matched because of gifts by these generous donors.

These camp scholarships ensure that any child can have the ultimate summer experience, regardless of their background or financial situation.
The Summer Program will be open at each of the three Clubhouses – Framingham, Marlborough and Hudson, as well as at Francis J. Kane Elementary School in Marlborough. Programs will run for eight weeks from June 28- August 20.
