WORCESTER – The nurses at St. Vincent Hospital have been striking for seven weeks.

The Worcester Hospital is owned by Tenet Healthcare, which also owns MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

The Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) is seeking better wages and working conditions for its members.

The Association issued a press release over the weekend.

“The ridiculous and egregious claims the MNA is making about our hospital are nothing more than rumor and innuendo, and are a continuation of the false safety claims filed and encouraged in large part by the bargaining committee members prior to the beginning of the strike,” said Tenet Healthcare in a statement Monday, April 19.

“This is simply another tactic the MNA is employing that is intended to bully our community into supporting their staffing proposal, which failed in the 2018 ballot initiative,” said Tenet in its statement.

“The MNA is not inside our hospital, and is not privy to any of this information, including the cost of the strike.  We are proud of the high-quality care that we continue to deliver, and the dedication to our patients of both our own nurses who have crossed, and our qualified and experienced replacement nurses,” said the Dallas-based healthcare company.
