21% of Framingham Now Full Vaccinated Against COVID-19; 55% of City Has Had One Shot

FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham announced yesterday, April 12, that 15,711 individuals have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

That is up from 13,666 individuals last week.

With about 75,000 individuals in the City of Framingham, that means 21% percent of the City is vaccinated against COVID-19.

The City of Framingham also announced 41,225 individuals in the City of Framingham have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. That is roughly 55% of the City’s residents.

Last week, the number of individuals with at least one dose was 35,040

The FDA has approved for emergency use a Moderna and a Pfizer vaccine that requires two doses.

At the end of February, the FDA approved for emergency use a single dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.

Today, the CDC & the FDA announced a “pause” on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after a report of blood clots.

Individuals are fully vaccinated after 14 days from either the two-dose or the one-dose vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Framingham is one of 20 communities where the Commonwealth is providing assistance to help with vaccine equity.

The City has a vaccine equity working group.

The City of Framingham has been holding private clinics with partner organizations, like the Pelham Lifelong Learning Center and the Brazilian American Center, as part of the vaccine equity rollout on March 24.
