FRAMINGHAM – Out MetroWest, which cancels its popular trivia night in 2020 due to the pandemic, will hold a virtual event in 2021 on May 1.

“Our annual event is back after a year’s hiatus, and we couldn’t be more excited. This event is a joyful celebration of LGBTQ+ youth; an opportunity to safely gather in community; a good-natured trivia competition; and a fundraiser for our programs,” said the Framingham-based organization.

The Saturday night event starts at 7;30 p.m.

All participants will participate on teams.

Individuals can reserve a team ticket for a group that you organize, or those who reserve individual tickets will be placed on a team with other community supporters. Our trivia platform enables teams to gather virtually (and easily!) via Zoom, said the organization.

All tickets must be reserved in advance.

The suggested donation is $20 per person or $200 per team.

The deadline for ticket sales is noon on April 23.

What size should my team be?

Most teams will have between six and twelve players. Teams can accommodate participants on up to eight Zoom-enabled devices.

For example, if you have eight couples on your team, each sharing a device from their own home, you’d have 16 people on your team. If you have two couples and three single people logging in, for a total of five devices, you’d have seven people on your team.

You will need access to at least three Zoom-enabled devices (Chrome browser preferred) to maximize your team’s points, so please take this into consideration if planning a COVID-safe, in-person gathering.

I don’t know exactly who will be on my team yet. Should I reserve individual tickets instead?

No. We encourage you to reserve a team ticket now and then build your team prior to May 1. We’ll send you all the necessary information to relay to your teammates prior to the event.

Is the suggested donation per device or per participant?

The suggested donation for this event is $20 per person or $200 per team. Your donation helps us to offer all of our youth programs free of charge to all participants. As OUT MetroWest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation is tax-deductible.

Do I have to be LGBTQ+ to participate?

No, allies are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Are children allowed to participate?

Questions will be geared toward adults and older teens, but younger children are welcome if it’s not past their bedtime!

Is this event accessible?

Closed captions will be available via Zoom for the main event. Please contact Julie at julie.blazar@outmetrowest.org if you need captioning or ASL translation so that we can ensure you have the services you need throughout the whole evening.

Will you have a silent auction as in years past?

Yes, our popular auction is coming back! We will share a link to our online silent auction shortly. The auction will close in the days following Trivia Night.
